FYI: Victoria Peak is a mountain in Hong Kong. It is also documented as The Peak locally, and Mount Austin. The mountain is located in the western half of the Hong Kong Island. With an altitude of 552 m, it is the highest mountain on the island, although far from the highest Tai Mo Shan in the territory. It is also is known to have the highest land value in the world, with many of the Super-Rich residing here. Because of its view, history and spectacular location Victoria Peak is strongly attached with an air of prestige.

Noon time?! I thought it was like early morning or some time in the evening. @.@
The books are certainly interesting, people get put off Tolstoy by reputation - it's undeserved. Naturally the style is very different to modern writing. Durrell is a writing hero of mine but not to everyone's taste.
Your take is subtle - something weightless and heavy at once.

The Peak is pretty much always in Fog in HK. The property prices of houses in that area is pretty steep indeed!
