Consumer Reports Says Propecia Most Effective Hair Loss Treatment for Men

According to a recent survey conducted by Consumer Reports, Propecia is the most effective hair loss treatment for men. Consumer Reports surveyed 8,000 subscribers and asked them to provide information about the hair loss products that they use. 27 percent of the men surveyed said that Propecia has been very effective for them. 41 percent of the men said that Propecia has been somewhat effective for them.

Propecia Offers Best Hair Loss Prevention

Many men choose Propecia because it is one of two products that have been approved by the FDA for treating male hair loss. The other chemical is monoxidil, which is sold under the name Rogaine. Only four percent of the men who responded to the survey said that monoxidil has been very effective for them.

Hiding Hair Loss

Consumer Reports went on to question subscribers about methods that they use to hide hair loss. Some of the most popular answers included wearing a wig or toupee, shaving the head, eating better, and getting more exercise. None of these methods, however, can actually help men regrow hair or prevent further baldness from occurring. Men who prefer to take actions that prevent hair loss should buy Propecia.

Preventing Hair Loss at a Young Age

Studies have shown that two-thirds of men who lose their hair do so before they turn 35. This creates a significant number of young men who lose their hair before they are ready to give into aging. This survey from Consumer Reports indicates that using Propecia could have a significant effect for the men who use it. Nearly half of the men who use Propecia should expect to slow hair loss significantly, an important aspect for many young men who feel that they are losing their hair too early in life.
