Making It Right

Everyone I know thinks Extreme Home Makeover is one of the best shows going. And, they may have a point. After all, who doesn't want families who face serious illness, death, or dedicate their lives to others rewarded with a wonderful new home? But in our house, a slightly different show has taken the top spot.

Holmes on Holmes is a regularly featured program we watch on satellite tv from www.bestchoicetv.com/deals.html. It ranks as my favorite home show, because Mike Holmes makes things right.

The show introduces you to a family who has usually spent a good chunk of their hard earned money paying "professionals" for home improvements. Unfortunately, these home owners didn't get what they paid for, and are often times stuck with no way to recover the costs.

Mike Holmes takes things further, though. He doesn't just fix what's broken -- he shows us what best building practices should be, not what minimum code allows. Even better, whenever he can, he works to get the scam-contractors licenses revoked!

Holmes on Homes brings home makeovers to regular people like you and me. People who have tried to do things right, and have gotten shafted in the process. He has taken his passion for home building and turned it into a mission of mercy and justice -- and that makes Holmes on Holmes #1 in our home.
