I really don’t take vacations often enough. I had a poor mindset that vacations can halt my pace at work and thus, less productive. My perspective was that I enjoy my work, so there’s no need to go somewhere and spend my hard-earned money just to look for fun. Even if I was once convinced to take a three-day vacation, I still brought with me some loads of work. But later on I realized that that kind of lifestyle was not working at all because I felt more tired and eventually came the burned out me.
When I started to take vacations seriously, I felt I became more productive than ever. It has also staved off my burnt out state. Personal recreational activities enabled me to feel a more sense of well-being. The effects are also lasting. I became more and more refreshed even with the little breaks I take every month.
While not every day that I take vacation, it sure helps a lot to plan ahead of time. For example, if I plan to avail of Cape Cod rental, I should know where to go. This can provide more options on how to enjoy the best of my trip.
