Saving Cash

Saving money is a big deal in my household and we've got the kids in on it. They actually love going through the coupons in the newspaper and clipping out the ones that pertain to us… I have created little saving monsters! I guess it's not the worst thing in the world for them to be aware of how much things cost so I tried my best to make sure they know the value of a dollar. I think you have to teach them these things when they are young because if you don't they are just going to grow up feeling entitled. For example, my son really wanted us to get direct tv local channels because all of his friends were watching a particular show and I told him we could if we started mowing the lawn once a week. I know it doesn't sound like much but just the fact that we have to put in time and effort to make some money forces him to think about what he's asking for.
