Everyone deserves a second chance. That's what my grandpa instilled in us while we were growing up. And he's right! I totally agree with him except for the part that involves criminals that have committed heinous crimes. They deserve nothing but the harshest capital punishment.
For drug addicts and alcoholics, these are the kind of people who needs a second chance in life. Or even a third chance should they relapse. There are plenty of inpatient rehab treatment centers across the nation that can help them overcome their addiction and turn their lives around. All it takes is the person's willingness and determination to recover and of course, the family's support which is very essential in the treatment process.
